Arte Pública: costume de sala vai à praça

Resumo

The research of the Professional Master's Degree in Arts, entitled Public Art: costume from the room goes to the square, had the purpose of exploring the artistic potential of public art, installed in squares, in the center of the city of Manaus, to promote processes of research, experimentation and mediation between art and the public, with students from a public school in the Final Years of Elementary School in Manaus. Through action research, studies, mapping of public works and records were carried out, which served as visual material for exhibition processes. It is expected as a result that this investigation of the works of public art in Manaus will contribute to the academic production on the subject, and that it will subsidize the promotion of pedagogical practices in the teaching of Art, especially with young people from the public network, starting with the valorization of public space, having squares and streets that together hold classic works and contemporary urban art, from a critical reading of the city, public art and its local historical processes, as well as their sense of belonging and a heritage education capable of educating them to the point of understanding public art as a collective good, belonging to all, as well as their social role in the life of the city. In addition to my methodological basis in Michel Tiollent, the theoretical foundation also brought together authors who discuss the relations between art, urban space and society, such as Henri Lefebvre, Paulo Freire, Vera Pallamin and José Francisco Alves, who deal with discussions of public space, city and public art; while Giulio Carlo Argan and Jorge Coli deal with art in its historical-social dimension. And in the historical, cultural and artistic contextualization of the city of Manaus and the Amazon, as a whole, I present authors such as Otoni Mesquita, Patrícia Sampaio, José Pedro Regatão, Maria Evany do Nascimento, F. P. Silva and Pilar Pinheiro Sanches, who together articulate studies focused on these three elements: art, city and public space.
