Resumo
The present study takes a theoretical-methodological approach to how the Mura-peara of the
Cunhã-Sapucaia indigenous land, located on the Preto do Igapó-Açú/Am river, regained their
territorial rights through engagement in ethnopolitics, led by them. Through an interpretative
theoretical line, and (ethnographic, autoethnography), and dialogue with authors
(anthropologists, ethnologists, teachers, tuxauas, elders and other indigenous leaders from T.I. Cunhã-Sapucaia), it was possible (listen, experience, write down, record) make conversations and find out how the practices of defending territorial rights by the Mura-peara of the Cunhã-Sapucaia Indigenous Land occurred. It is worth highlighting that it was also necessary to resort to
(remember) the trajectory of struggle that our ancestors experienced so that today, today, our
leaders could continue a saga that began in the 17th century and that for us, the Mura people of T.I. Cunhã-Sapucaia, only came to an end on November 1, 2006, as dated and made official in the official gazette of the Union, where the regulation and approval of our indigenous land is consolidated. “Only with our land demarcated was it possible for us to feel safer in the face of a colonizing front that is only interested in occupying the land without caring who it really belongs to (Simão Marques/tuxaua,2024). With our land demarcated, it was possible for the Mura people of T.I.Cunhã-Sapucaia to rise in the various spheres of action of our ethnopolitics (Indigenous school education, Establishment of ethnic identity, Inspection and surveillance of the land), an event that contributed to the emergence of the people Wall of the Cunhã – Sapucaia indigenous land, and that we now continue to draw up plans and actions in favor of continuing the legacy of our people, which is to continue defending our lands against invaders.
