This dissertation aims to develop a gamified prototype
proposal, using gamification concepts and game design theories,
based on research and analysis of instructional/educational
gamification techniques that can contribute to the processes of
information and training in good working practices for workers in
the engineering and civil construction sector, as well as in the
management and prevention of environmental risks on
construction sites. Based on the research, studies, analyses, and
data collected through qualitative questionnaires with safety
professionals, companies, and workers in the field, regulatory
standards, and investigations of workplace accidents, it was
possible to understand the daily lives of these professionals on a
construction site, as well as the difficulties of managing these
workers and the possible causes of workplace accidents and the
development of occupational diseases in the context of civil
construction. This led to proposals and prototypes for instructional
gamification of Worker Safety and Health in a game-oriented
interface system developed using a game engine/graphics engine.
In conclusion, the prototype system developed for the user, when
implemented, will enable simulations of risk environments in civil
construction, with events and actions for training and improving
knowledge of good work practices and occupational health and
safety through game mechanics - such as goals, challenges, scores,
achievements, rewards, and levels. Ultimately, the gamified system
processes, in addition to training and educating users, assist in
Daily Safety Dialogues (DDS) and environmental risk prevention
programs, promoting the physical and mental well-being of
workers.
