This dissertation is the result of a research project that aimed to analyze the use of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) as a pedagogical strategy in the Biology discipline during Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in state schools in the municipality of Coari, Amazonas. The research involved the participation of seven teachers who taught Biology during the periods of 2020 and 2021, when face-to-face classes were suspended and replaced by ERT. The main tools and methodologies used by the teachers during this period were investigated, analyzing which digital technologies stood out the most used and which platforms were most commonly used by them. Additionally, the main difficulties faced by these professionals in using the DICT and the training they received to use digital technologies were identified. The research adopted a qualitative approach and was developed from a constructivist perspective. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews, following a script divided into three topics: the first topic referred to the teacher's profile, the second addressed the work of teachers during remote teaching, and the third focused on the professional development of these teachers. Data analysis was conducted using Discursive Textual Analysis (DTA). The results demonstrate that teachers faced numerous challenges during the crisis period; many had to reinvent themselves with little or no support from the state and without the necessary qualifications to overcome all the obstacles imposed by the pandemic. These challenges included personal investment in home infrastructure to continue online teaching, modification of family habits, increased time for lesson preparation and activity correction, as well as availability to answer students' and families' questions. All this workload resulted in serious risks to the physical and mental health of many teachers.
