Design como intermediador no desenvolvimento de estampas com corantes naturais amazônicos

Abstract

The production chain and the excessive consumption of fashion products cause environmental damage, making it necessary to adopt measures to reduce these negative impacts. This research investigates the role of design in the development of textile prints produced with natural dyes of Amazonian origin, considering the relationship between creation, production, and sustainability within the context of fashion. The overall objective of the study is to develop surface patterns based on elements of Amazonian fauna and flora, applied through manual textile printing techniques, using natural dyes as a sustainable alternative for fashion production. The theoretical framework is structured around three main axes: sustainability in design and fashion, textile dyeing and printing with natural dyes, and fundamentals of surface design. From a methodological perspective, the research is characterized as qualitative and exploratory, combining bibliographic research, document analysis, and practical experimentation. The empirical stages involve the extraction and preparation of natural dyes from Amazonian plants, the development of surface patterns, and the application of prints through screen printing and stencil techniques. The study highlights the strategic role of design in integrating sustainability, cultural identity, and textile production, demonstrating the potential of Amazonian natural dyes as a viable alternative for textile printing aimed at sustainable fashion.
