O processo de ocupação socioambiental das vertentes no baixo curso da Bacia dos Educandos (AM)

Abstract

The study “The Socio-Environmental Occupation Process of the Slopes in the Lower Course of the Educandos Basin” aimed to analyze the appropriation of urban slopes on the banks of the lower course of the Educandos stream in Manaus (AM). With the advancement of the urbanization process, environmental problems have increased, thus reflecting the conflictual relationship between society and nature, mainly in the slope sectors. It was found that these problems occur on the right and left banks of the lower course of the Educandos Basin, where the left bank is occupied by houses built on stilts. On the right bank, in turn, it was found that several types of landfills have occurred, forming new technogenic morphologies on the slopes. As for land use, the most prominent forms are residential use, which has advanced over the years, which denotes the lack of adequate urban planning, bringing with it several social and environmental problems, degrading the environment of the lower course, of which the removal of vegetation cover, soil and water pollution, in addition to housing occupying risk areas, stand out.
