Relatório de estágio supervisionado obrigatório - Fazenda Experimental da Universidade Federal do Amazonas (FAEXP)

Resumo

This report describes the activities carried out during the mandatory supervised internship for the Bachelor’s degree program in Animal Science at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), conducted at the university's Experimental Farm (FAEXP) from March 27 to June 22, 2026, totaling 300 hours. The internship aimed to integrate theoretical knowledge acquired during the undergraduate program with management practices performed across the farm's various animal production systems. Activities involved observing and executing feeding, health, reproductive, and production management tasks in the swine, poultry, collared peccary (Pecari tajacu), fish farming sectors, sheep farming and buffalo farming sector. In the swine sector, key procedures included farrowing unit management, birth assistance, neonatal prophylaxis, surgical castration, clinical treatments, and health management of breeding sows. Poultry activities included rearing laying hen chicks, nutritional management, facility sanitation, and egg production monitoring. In the wildlife sector, participation involved facility cleaning routines and preventive pest control, while fish farming activities included fingerling release, chelonian biometrics, and feeding management of the cultivated species. In the buffalo farming sector: monitoring of milking and clinical treatments. In sheep farming: accompanying student technical visits, neonatal management, clinical care, and health management through to slaughter. The experience fostered the development of technical skills, decision-making capabilities, the application of animal science protocols, and an understanding of the importance of biosecurity, animal welfare, and production system management, contributing significantly to the intern's professional development.
