Análise da cadeia produtiva do abacaxi (Ananas comosus (L.) Merril) e da mandioca (Manihot esculenta) em Novo Remanso, Itacoatiara-AM

Abstract

The Novo Remanso region, located in Itacoatiara, Amazonas, stands out for its agricultural production, with an emphasis on pineapple and cassava cultivation, which play a central role in the local economy. In this context, the following problem arises: considering that production chains are formed by different social actors who interact and shape the direction of the processes at different stages, how is the pineapple and cassava production chain configured from the perspective of producers in the Itacoatiara region, Amazon? This question reflects the need to analyze not only the technical and economic aspects of production chains, but also the social and cultural relationships that influence their dynamics. This study aims to analyze the critical impacts and potential (social and economic) of the pineapple and cassava production chain in Novo Remanso, Itacoatiara AM. In the qualitative/quantitative research modality, with bibliographical study on the topic and data obtained through on-site visits, questionnaires, photographic records. The quantitative questionnaire was applied in person, and the responses were analyzed descriptively, with the help of the Microsoft Excel tool. The results highlight the interaction between local knowledge, traditional agricultural practices and market dynamics, identifying the challenges and potential of these production chains. Throughout the three chapters, the study identified the main factors that influence the success and challenges faced by local producers, in addition to highlighting the potential for growth and sustainability of the production chains analyzed. During its execution, the research highlighted the significant contribution of Novo Remanso to agricultural production, with pineapple and cassava cultivation playing a fundamental role in the regional economy. With an extensive planting area, the community has played a crucial role, consolidating itself as the most productive region in recent decades. The continuous growth in the cultivation area and in the volume of fruits harvested has generated employment and income in the community. The valorization of the pineapple and cassava production chains is not only restricted to the local context, but is also aligned with strategies for valuing family farming and strengthening regional food security. By understanding the nuances of these production chains, it is possible to implement policies and practices that increase socioeconomic and environmental benefits. The appreciation of local knowledge, combined with the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices and investments in infrastructure, has the power to boost the economic development of the region, promoting social inclusion and progress in the community involved
