O significado da língua Sateré-Mawé na Escola Municipal Manoel Michiles Filho da Aldeia Nova Esperança Rio Marau- Maués Ti-Andirá/Marau/Amazonas

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze the applicability of the Sateré-Mawé language in the context of the indigenous schools of the Nova Esperança Rio Marau Pole, in the state of Amazonas. Bibliographic and documentary studies were carried out, observations of teaching practices and questionnaires were carried out, and these are added to the main subsidies to obtain the results. As for the experiences in the school, it was evidenced that in practice, the Sateré language still does not fully meet what is expected within the indigenous school. We found that there are teachers who have difficulties in writing the mother tongue, and bilingual students who speak in Sateré at school, but have difficulties in speaking and writing Portuguese. It was observed in the context of the applicability of the mother tongue (teaching and learning of the Sateré children in the community), that there is something more important than the teacher's own methodology in the classroom, the influence that the "Living Memories" have (the elder leaders of the village who are still alive). Thus, the legacy or role of these elders loses its due value, since they (in many cases) are replaced by the attributions of teachers in the classroom without ancestral knowledge.
