Resumo
This research seeks to analyze the contribution of researcher Neide Gondim to the formation of Amazonian social thought through the study of fiction narratives representing the Amazon. The central objective is to investigate how her work promoted a paradigm shift, moving the view of the region from an external perspective to an analysis grounded from “inside out”, integrating literary criticism, history, and social sciences. To achieve the general objective, we propose the following specific objectives: to discuss the concepts that intersect literary thought and sociological thought; to identify the main intellectuals who were elements of dialog in the study of the formation of Amazonian social thought, between Social Sciences and Literary Criticism; and to present, in light of the history of ideas, the importance of Gondim's work, thesis, and dissertation, which address the narrative of fiction representing the Amazon. Thus, the methodology used was qualitative with a bibliographic and interpretive nature. Literature played a central role in the construction of the nation. This scenario allowed the intellectual elite to exchange cultural prestige for stability in public positions, shaping official culture under the state's endorsement. Neide Gondim is part of the founding generation of academic criticism in the Amazon and her thesis, A invenção da Amazônia (1994), is a milestone in the deconstruction of hegemonic narratives. Gondim demonstrates that the region was not simply discovered, but “invented” by a European discursive network based on imaginary Greco-Roman and medieval libraries. This research concludes that Gondim's work achieved a radical shift in the analytical focus, removing the regional inhabitant from the status of an object of external fantasy and making them the author of their own history. This movement is characterized as a decolonization of knowledge, which seeks regional intellectual sovereignty in the face of hegemonic discourses.
