Conhecimento em Propriedade Intelectual: uma investigação com estudantes da graduação do IFAM - Campus Manaus Centro

Abstract

The study had the general objective of assessing the level of awareness of undergraduate students at IFAM – Manaus Centro Campus regarding the topic of Intellectual Property and identifying the existence of related content within their academic training. As a data collection instrument, a similar study conducted in the United Kingdom was used, which was adapted to the reality of the sample. The research subjects were third-semester students from the Bachelor’s programs in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, as well as from the Technology programs in Food Technology, Systems Analysis and Development, Chemical Processes, and Advertising Production. To provide theoretical grounding and support the interpretation of the data, a bibliographic review was first carried out using databases and repositories. For data collection, official institutional documents were used along with the administration of a questionnaire. The research was conducted at the Federal Institute of Amazonas (IFAM) – Manaus Centro Campus, targeting undergraduate students. The study is exploratory and descriptive in nature, adopting a mixed qualitative and quantitative approach. The results of the research showed that there are gaps to be filled in the training and dissemination of the topic of intellectual property. Considering the findings, didactic material in the form of video lessons was developed to contribute to the dissemination of the subject among students of the institution. The technical/technological product, entitled “Create, Protect, and Innovate: Didactic Material on Intellectual Property”, is presented in video format and was developed with the aim of making the subject more engaging. The videos are structured into four modules divided as follows: Basic Concepts of Intellectual Property – importance and legislation; Copyright and the digital environment; Industrial property and its modalities; Sui generis protection – modalities and examples of the application of IP in professional fields.The material was properly evaluated by the target audience through an electronic questionnaire (Google Forms), with the participation of 16 students. The evaluation results demonstrated a positive acceptance among the target audience.
