Resumo

This study analyzed territorial management in the Rio Negro Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS), emphasizing the interaction between social actors, sustainable management practices, and the environmental potential of the region. The research was structured into three chapters: the first identified the main social actors in the RDS, highlighting the roles of local residents, public institutions, and non-governmental organizations in local governance. The second chapter investigated sustainable practices adopted by the communities, such as forest resource management, biodiversity conservation, and the transmission of traditional knowledge. The third chapter addressed the environmental potential of the RDS for sustainable development, focusing on the valorization of sociobiodiversity products, ecotourism, and participatory management. The methodology included open-ended individual interviews and participatory workshops aimed at understanding local perceptions about the challenges of territorial management. Data analysis was conducted at the Governance Laboratory (LAGBIO) of the Federal University of Amazonas, based on theories of socio-environmental governance and sustainability. The results were organized into graphs and tables, presenting the main challenges and opportunities for territorial management in the RDS Rio Negro. The findings highlight challenges such as the lack of resources for implementing sustainable practices and conflicts of interest between actors, but also emphasize opportunities such as ecotourism and the valorization of sociobiodiversity products. The study contributes to strengthening conservation practices in the region, providing subsidies for public policies and management practices that promote sustainability and the valorization of traditional knowledge. Keywords: Territorial management; Sustainability; Conservation Units; Social actors; Forest resources.
