Treinamento de enfermagem para a utilização da Escala de Depressão Pós-Parto de Edimburgo como estratégia de rastreio para depressão pós-parto em uma maternidade pública de Manaus - Amazonas

Abstract

Objective: To analyze whether nursing training for the application of the Edinburgh Scale will be effective in early identification of postpartum depression in a public maternity hospital in the city of Manaus. Methods: This study is characterized as a quasi-experimental before-and-after study, without a control group, focused on evaluating the impact of an educational intervention on the recognition and management of postpartum depression among health professionals. Results: In the overall analysis, considering the sum of the scores of all dimensions, it was found that 37 of the 41 participants (90.2%) showed improvement in post-test performance in relation to the pre-test. These findings indicate that the intervention was effective in improving the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the participants, while changes in professional attitudes and perceptions may require complementary approaches or more time for consolidation. Conclusion: This research showed that the implementation of a training program aimed at nursing professionals to apply the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) was effective in significantly improving the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of these professionals in the early identification of PPD.
