Envelhecimentos dissidentes: carreiras e teleologias de LGBTs maiores de 50 anos em Manaus-AM

Resumo

This research is entitled “Dissident aging: careers and teleologies of LGBTs over 50 in Manaus-AM”, whose central theme is the aging of the LGBT population. Aging is a global phenomenon that has been growing progressively, especially in countries with late and peripheral capitalism, such as Brazil, which has become a country of old people and aging people in recent decades. As survivors, they walk towards the end of life without security and without social protection. Based on this, this study starts from the following guiding question: how do LGBT people over 50 in Manaus walk towards old age? To answer this question, the following General Objective was proposed: To investigate the forms of resistance/existence of LGBT aging people in the city of Manaus - AM. In order to achieve this greater objective, three Specific Objectives were elected: 1) To unravel the construction of the LGBT career of LGBT aging people; 2) To outline the meaning of aging for LGBT aging people in Manaus, emphasizing the construction of their life projects for the course of existence in old age; 3) To evaluate the (mis)treatment of the agenda on sexual diversity in old age by the LGBT movements and by the State and Municipal Councils for the Elderly in Manaus - AM. The Methodology that presides over this research was anchored in the phenomenological approach, in order to illuminate the understanding of how LGBT people over 50 years old in Manaus elaborated their conception of subject in the face of life's difficulties and how this prepares them for old age. The methodological procedures are based on bibliographic research, documentary research and field research, whose locus is centered on the city of Manaus, state of Amazonas. The subjects who took part in this research were 10 people aged between 50 and 62 years old, linked to two LGBT movements in the city of Manaus; 1 representative of the Association of Transvestites, Transsexuals and Transgenders of Amazonas (ASSOTRAM); 1 representative of the Manifesta LGBT Association; 1 representative of the State Council for the Elderly of Amazonas and 1 representative of the Municipal Council for the Elderly of Manaus. This research finds that LGBT aging people in Manaus - AM have their life careers marked by humiliation, violence and psychological illness that spreads throughout their lives in old age, whose only strategy for security and social protection is to conform to cis-heteronormative teleologies, since old age is an irrevocable destiny and being LGBT is considered a luxury of a short time in a sexually emancipated youth.
