Ressonâncias Macuxi: formas e temas nas poéticas de Sony Ferseck e Trudruá Dorrico

Resumo

This dissertation investigates, from a comparative perspective, contemporary Macuxi Indigenous poetics. The corpus consists of works by two authors: Weiyamî: mulheres que fazem sol (2022), by Sony Ferseck, and Tempo de retomada (2023), by Trudruá Dorrico. The main objective of this research is to analyze how these works articulate oral tradition and modern poetic tradition, identifying recurring poetic forms and thematic elements. Based on the recognition that Indigenous literature has gained increasing relevance in the Brazilian literary and academic context, this study seeks to understand how the poetics of Ferseck and Dorrico reactivate ancestral knowledge in dialogue with contemporaneity, addressing identity, cultural, and political issues specific to Indigenous experience. The central research problem investigates how the dialogue between orality and modernity is established in the authors’ poetry, which themes recur most frequently, and how their works relate to political-environmental activism, particularly regarding the defense of territory and the affirmation of Indigenous protagonism. For this analysis, we adopt Greg Garrard’s (2006) ecocriticism to investigate the relationship between the Macuxi people and the environment in the Anthropocene epoch, further aligning with the perspectives of Ailton Krenak (2020; 2022), Davi Kopenawa (2015), and other non-Indigenous authors. Methodologically, the analysis is grounded in a postcolonial critical perspective (Fanon, 2022; Said, 2011; Hall, 2003) and is structured around two analytical axes. The first focuses on poetic forms, highlighting formal, structural, rhythmic, and symbolic elements. The second addresses thematic content, emphasizing Indigenous female protagonism, memory and ancestry, mythic and cosmological narratives, experiences of coloniality and resistance, as well as the relationship between body, territory, and environment, especially in their political-environmental dimensions. The findings indicate that the poetics of Sony Ferseck and Trudruá Dorrico not only preserve and reinterpret Macuxi oral traditions, but also assert themselves as practices of cultural and political resistance, producing discourses of memory, identity, and engagement with the present. By demonstrating how these works articulate orality, ancestry, and contemporaneity, this study contributes to the field of Indigenous literature in Brazil, highlighting it as a space of critical, aesthetic, and ethical production capable of challenging both the literary canon and pressing contemporary social debates.
