Abstract

The mandatory supervised internship of the Animal Science undergraduate program at the Institute of Social Sciences, Education, and Animal Science of the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) was carried out from March 17 to June 21, 2025, totaling 300 hours. It took place at Fazenda Agro Nova, located in Parintins-AM, through the Extension Program "Amazonas Leite: Producing Milk with Sustainability," linked to the Biotechnology Laboratory of ICSEZ/UFAM. The objective was to provide practical experience in the daily routine of dairy cattle farming, integrating theoretical knowledge with technical, management, and rural extension activities. Throughout the internship, activities such as feed supply and management, fertilization of pastures and forage crops, corn silage production, soybean harvesting, sanitary and reproductive management, neonatal care, cleaning of facilities and utensils, monitoring of milking and milk control were carried out, in addition to participation in practical classes. The experience enabled the strengthening of professional skills, the development of critical thinking, and a better understanding of the challenges faced in regional dairy farming. Moreover, through the interaction between the rural producer and the intern, there was an exchange of knowledge and experiences that contributed to improved communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Thus, the internship significantly contributed to the intern’s professional and ethical development.
