Resíduos agroindustriais e os ODS na Zona Franca de Manaus

Abstract

The general objective of this research is to analyze the contributions of the process of utilization of agro-industrial waste to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by agro-industries in the Manaus Free Trade Zone - ZFM, since the SDGs do not have the force of law, but have the approval of 193 countries and contribute to the quality of life on the planet. As a method for carrying out the research, a multiple case study was carried out with agro-industries in the ZFM. The research has a qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews, documentary analysis and content analysis carried out using the Atlas-TI application. As a result, the barriers and facilitators for the process of utilization of agro-industrial waste were identified, the relationship between the utilization of agro-industrial waste and the SDGs was examined, and the relationship between the utilization of agro-industrial waste and the economy of sustainability based on Ecodesign was evaluated. As a theoretical contribution, the research identified good agro-industrial practices for the use of waste in the ZFM, as well as identified the barriers and facilitators of the waste use process in the Free Trade Zone. As a managerial contribution, the research identified factors in the waste use process linked to local standards and legislation, which represent the intervention of the State and organized interest groups in the management process of agro-industries. Thus, the research represents contributions to the processes of agro-industrial waste management, implementation of the SDGs, sustainable development and improvement of Environmental Sciences and Sustainability in the Amazon.
