Jornalismo e questão ambiental na Amazônia: análise de matérias jornalísticas do Portal A Crítica no instagram, ano de 2023

Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between journalism and environmental issues in the Amazon, based on the study of a news portal’s profile on the social network Instagram. The research is grounded in the understanding that environmental problems in the region are intrinsically linked to social issues, directly affecting traditional populations and the ways of life of Amazonian communities. The general objective of the research is to analyze how journalistic content addresses the expressions of environmental issues in the Amazon, focusing on the A Crítica Portal in the year 2023. The specific objectives are: 1) to discuss the role of journalism in the face of environmental issues in the Amazon; 2) to evaluate the production of news content about environmental matters in the Amazon published by the A Crítica portal on Instagram; and 3) to identify the challenges and perspectives faced by the portal in its journalistic practices and in addressing environmental issues in the Amazon, envisioning the necessary paths toward a “journalism of the forest.” To achieve these objectives, the methodology will be based on the concepts and criteria proposed by Laurence Bardin. The data analyzed consist of material collected from reports and content produced by the portal, as well as posts shared on Instagram throughout 2023. The study concludes that it is essential to strengthen an environmental journalism that is sensitive, plural, and attentive to the diverse territories of the Amazon, especially in the face of the challenges posed by contemporary Amazonian realities and capitalism. The research also highlights that alternative media, in combination with social networks, can play a crucial role in promoting a more democratic, plural, and socio-environmentally committed journalism that amplifies the voices of Amazonian peoples.
