Resumo
This work addresses the concepts of male and female shamanism, symbolic power and traditional knowledge, always seeking the contribution of interdisciplinary theories. The general aim of the work is to understand the forms of expression of traditional shamanic practice, presenting the forms of symbolic power and traditional knowledge. The method used in this research is phenomenological, which fits the type of phenomenon of the subjective knowledge of 04 epistemic subjects, indigenous women benzedeiras of the Baré ethnic group who live in the municipality of São Gabriel-Am. The bibliographical and field research is a qualitative analysis. Shamanism is an ancient practice common among men, the most prominent of whom are the so-called shamans, and this social role is mostly male. One of the reasons for this research is to understand why women remain anonymous during the healing processes in the Upper Rio Negro. I hope that this study will contribute to the valorization, visibility and empowerment of indigenous women who hold traditional knowledge inherited from ancestral spirits. This study with women who hold traditional knowledge about powerful plants can help heal people with health and mental problems.
