Resumo
Sustainable urban mobility is a global goal. However, the sustainability of urban mobility
in many places, including Manaus, has been undermined by policies based on individual
motorized transport. In view of this, new mobility policies aim to prioritize non-motorized
and collective transport. In this scenario, cycling movements have been gaining strength
and importance, especially due to their differentiated level of environmental perception
and cognition. Considering that, for environmental psychology, the act of cycling
requires the cyclist to position his body in space, sharpening the cognitive components of
the person-environment relationship. Given this reality, this project aims to determine
the profile of cyclists in the city of Manaus and to analyze the sustainability of urban
mobility in the city, through the perspective of these practitioners and using the quality
tools: SWOT, Ishikawa, GUT and 5W2H. The survey of the profile of cyclists revealed
the predominance of young adults, single, male, from intermediate economic classes and
with education concentrated in high school. The SWOT Matrix was used to determine the
level of sustainability of mobility. The quantitative approach revealed an unsustainable
perception of urban mobility in Manaus, resulting in a negative value in the sum of the
applied methodology (-101 points). The weak aspects of the qualitative approach were
used to feed the other quality tools. The Ishikawa Diagram graphically mapped the
structural causes of these aspects, revealing a strong relationship with inefficient public
management and insufficient infrastructure. The GUT Matrix was used to prioritize (by
solution priority) the weak aspects raised, resulting in the points of Precarious Public
Transportation and Low Security, as the priority solution agendas. Finally, the 5W2H
method was used to structure short, medium and long-term action plans. The result was
strategic and coordinated actions, with investments in infrastructure, security and public
transportation. Therefore, the research presented an interdisciplinary characteristic
(combining knowledge of environmental psychology, urban planning and quality
management); applied an unprecedented coordination of classical qualitative and
quantitative analysis tools; and presented unprecedented data on the sustainability of
urban mobility in Manaus.
