Abstract

This dissertation is the result of ethnographic research conducted with women who are descendants of quilombolas in the São Francisco do Bauana community, located in the Médio Solimões region of Amazonas. The main focus of the investigation is the "Politics of Care in the Daily Lives of Amazonian Quilombola Descendant Women from the São Francisco do Bauana Community." The starting point of this study is grounded in theoretical reflections from Black feminism, coupled with the vital and political desire to promote the visibility of the memories and trajectories of Black women living in the Amazon, whose experiences have historically been marginalized. The methodological approach adopted was ethnobiography, a strategy that allowed access to the narratives of these women as a way to understand the interpretations they make of their Amazonian experiences. This method also enabled exploration of how ancestral ties, as descendants of quilombolas, intertwine with the protagonism in their daily lives. Throughout the dissertation, the analysis of the concept of aquilombamento in the São Francisco do Bauana community is approached through the lens of the politics of care, adopted by these women in their struggle to preserve and transmit Black Amazonian culture in the context of Médio Solimões. Thus, the research seeks to illuminate the forms of resistance and empowerment of these women, reflecting on their daily practices of care and resistance, which emerge as a true form of aquilombamento.
