BACKGROUND: Pathological analysis is a crucial tool in the diagnosis and treatment of several diseases. It is a complex and prolonged process involving several steps, from sample collection to the issuance of the final report. In other words, laboratory medicine is essential for the health system and directly contributes to actions for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases. Based on this premise, the motivation for the study occurred by observing the adversities faced by patients at the Getúlio Vargas University Hospital, specifically those awaiting the results of biopsies or surgical specimens sent to the Pathological Anatomy laboratory. OBJECTIVE: To analyze how the creation of a mobile application aimed at the health area can improve communication and the flow of information between doctors, patients, and the pathological anatomy laboratory at the Getúlio Vargas University Hospital, aiming at improving the quality of care and the efficiency of diagnostic processes. METHOD: This is a technological production study, involving basic and applied research, with a sample of 28 patients who agreed to participate by answering a questionnaire containing 8 closed, multiple-choice questions, focused on the functional and usability aspects of the application, as well as its possible benefits. The application was developed using Flutter programming, a framework developed by Google, designed to create elegant and high-performance user interfaces for mobile, web and desktop applications, using a single code base. RESULTS: The development of the application was called “Smart Health” and enabled the tool to offer an efficient and user-centered experience, making the test results accessible, agile and efficient. Its validation was successfully carried out through a usability pre-test, which will allow the adjustment and improvement of the tool, according to user feedback, ensuring that the product meets the expectations and needs of the target audience. Keywords: Technology and Innovation in Health; Histopathological Exams; Pathology; Technological Innovation.
