The research entitled “Post-High School Paths: Trajectories of Young People from the District of Caburi, Parintins/AM”, deals with a study on the educational trajectories and insertion into the world of work of young people from a riverside Amazonian community (Agrovila de São Sebastião do Caburi). It starts from a central question that asks: How are the educational trajectories and insertion in the job market into the world of work of young people who have recently graduated from high school and continue to reside in Caburi configured, considering the economic and educational context in which they are inserted and their individual perspectives and strategies? From this perspective, the general objective of the research is defined as: to understand the educational and work trajectories of young people who have graduated from high school and who reside in the community of Caburi. And as specific objectives: 1) To investigate the educational trajectories and insertion into the world of work of young people from the Community of Caburi, who graduated from high school in 2021; 2) To analyze aspects of the social and economic reality of the local context, in relation to national and global dynamics, which hinder the continuation of studies and the insertion of young people from Caburi in the formal job market after completing high school; 3) To verify future perspectives and current strategies of young people from Caburi who have graduated from high school in relation to the continuation of studies and insertion in the job market. The research has a qualitative focus, anchored in theoretical-methodological references of research in education in the interface with the sociology of education. The methodology includes the review of local and national literature related to the object of study. It is supported as a field research contemplating the listening of the subjects and the observation of reality, using, as instruments, the semi-structured questionnaire and the field diary. A semi-structured questionnaire was applied to a group of young people who completed high school in Caburi, in the municipality of Parintins, state of Amazonas, in 2021 and who remained living in the Community. The results indicate that most young people did not continue their studies after completing high school, whether in vocational or undergraduate courses. Another finding is that young people are involved in work activities, family relationships and social networks that are strongly rooted in Caburi and believe that continuing their education would only be possible if there were opportunities to study in the Community itself. Many do not rule out the possibility of future access, or even the expectation of continuing their studies, but they emphasize that the absence of institutions that offer technical or undergraduate courses in the Community, the lack of resources and other conditions for moving from the Community or even for taking distance learning courses, are limiting factors in their educational trajectory. The reality of the young people participating in the research demonstrates multiple dimensions, allowing us to conclude that living in the Caburi Community and continuing to study after completing high school is something difficult to reconcile from the perspective of young people. Thus, we confirm the thesis that the trajectories of young people from Caburi reflect structural inequalities that affect young people from Amazonian riverside communities and are materialized in various ways that prevent them from continuing their studies and in precarious insertions into the world of work. Remaining living in Caburi after high school, whether by necessity or by choice, imposes limitations on schooling and professional integration projects, proving that the place of residence is a social marker of inequalities.
