Abstract

This internship report presents the activities carried out in the Pavement Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), focusing on practical applications of academic knowledge in Civil Engineering. The work included laboratory tests using Medium-Density Polyethylene (MDPE), such as density, permeability, and particle size analysis, in addition to digital measurements performed using ImageJ software. An economic comparison was conducted between polymer waste reuse and the use of conventional sand. The internship also involved assisting in practical classes and developing the Laboratory Use Regulations, improving organization, safety, and operational procedures. The experience strengthened theoretical understanding through hands-on activities and contributed to the technical and professional development required in engineering practice.
