Abstract

The supervised internship was carried out through the Extension Program “Amazonas Leite: Producing Milk with Sustainability” in partnership with Fazenda Macurany. This program is linked to the Biotechnology Laboratory of the Institute of Social Sciences, Education and Animal Science (ICSEZ) at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). Throughout the 300 hours of activities, it was possible to experience essential routines of dairy cattle farming, covering each stage of the production chain, from animal management to milk processing in the farm’s dairy plant. The main activities included daily manual and mechanical milking, implementation of hygiene practices, monitoring of milk recording, assessment of milk quality, nutritional management and body condition scoring, zootechnical organization through identification spreadsheets, as well as sanitary practices such as deworming and calf care, pasture paddock measurements, soil sampling, and the transfer of animals to the floodplain area. There was also participation in the processing of dairy products and observation of the commercial dynamics at the farm’s shop. The internship allowed the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical experience, providing a broader understanding of the regional production system and contributing to professional development in the field of dairy production.
