O corpo e o cuidado masculino nos territórios quilombolas do Alto Trombetas no município de Oriximiná - PA

Resumo

This study is about the body and care within the Quilombola communities of Alto Trombetas, in the municipality of Oriximiná – Pará. The research used to listen to the narratives of the community residents, observe their daily lives, and understand how they approached the body and care. The methodology of ethnography was the theoretical foundation that supported this study, allowing me not only to question and observe the interlocutors but also to live the experiences in the community alongside them. Masculine care was constantly present in the statements of the interlocutors, especially in the figure of Baldoíno, whose story intertwined with those told by my great-grandfather, who also practiced the art of caring for Brazil nut trees and subsequently for his children and grandchildren. Upon concluding the study, it was found that the Quilombola communities of Alto Trombetas practice care in a diversified manner, not only providing care for sick and human bodies but also exercising care for non-humans by caulking (boats/canoes), tending to the rivers and forests, so that they can always have places to navigate, means to navigate, and to keep the "encantados" (enchanted entities/spirits) present in the territory, aiding in the care of the fauna and flora in the same way. Thus, care becomes communal, performed in a shared way, like in a "puxirum".
