Entre o Sol e a Tempestade: a luta das Nadahup's no Acampamento do Parawarí

Resumo

This dissertation examines the struggle of Nadahup women in the Parawarí encampment, São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Amazonas, analyzing the social vulnerabilities faced by these temporary migrants from the Papuri and Tiquié tributaries. Through a qualitative ethnographic approach, based on a semi-structured interview with the leader Auxiliadora Hupdah and participant observation, the study explores cultural, political, and symbolic resistance practices, organized into five thematic blocks: identity, territory, and belonging; material and immaterial culture; female roles; rights, public policies, and interculturality; and memory, history, and future. The findings reveal that Nadahup women transform Parawarí into a space of agency, confronting ethnic discrimination, precarious housing, and limited access to basic services, such as healthcare and intercultural education. Their strategies include oral transmission of myths, collective fishing, and leadership in negotiations with institutions, challenging cultural hybridization and gender inequalities. Despite state neglect, the women build solidarity networks and envision a dignified future grounded in collective memory. The research contributes to social anthropology by highlighting indigenous female protagonism in the Amazon, advocating for inclusive public policies that respect Nadahup cultural plurality and promote human and indigenous rights.
