The supervised internship in rural extension was carried out through the Extension Program “Amazonas Leite: Producing milk with sustainability,” linked to ICSEZ/UFAM, with activities conducted at Macurany Dairy Farm. The tasks performed provided practical experience with the productive routines of dairy farming in the Amazon Region, including nutritional, sanitary, and reproductive management, calf care, manual and mechanical milking, and hygiene practices aimed at ensuring milk quality. Essential procedures were monitored, such as pre- and post-dipping, mechanical milking management, calf feeding, medication application, cattle identification, herd organization, weighing, and the movement of animals to the várzea grazing areas. At the dairy plant, the manufacturing process of cheese, yogurt, butter, and other dairy products was observed, including pasteurization, whey drainage, pressing, salting, packaging, labeling, and the application of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Area mapping and soil sampling were also carried out to diagnose fertility, with the purpose of providing data for soil nutritional planning and supporting management decisions that enhance productive efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, and improve the zootechnical performance of the property. The internship made it possible to understand the integrated functioning of the production chain, develop technical skills, and strengthen the student’s critical and professional perspective, highlighting the importance of rural extension in the productive and social improvement of dairy farms in the region.
