Os multifacetados aspectos da oficina lírica de Astrid Cabral

Abstract

This dissertation is dedicated to the analysis of Astrid Cabral’s multifaceted lyrical workshop, aiming to answering the following central questions: What elements interconnect the lyrical fabric in Astrid Cabral’s language? And how do aspects of her poetic production contribute to its multifaceted nature? The analysis corpus consists of poems extracted from different works by Astrid Cabral, namely: Visgo da Terra (2005); Torna-viagem (1981); Rês desgarrada (1994); Intramuros (2011); Ponto de Cruz (1979); Rasos d’água (2004); Palavra na Berlinda (2011); and Lição de Alice (1986). The selection of poems considered the representativeness of four key elements that define Cabral’s poetics: the configuration of memory, metaphorical discourse, irony as a strategy of social criticism and the establishment of the feminine enunciative ethos. Based on this outline, the research pursues the following specific objectives: 1) To investigate the configuration of memory in the selected texts; 2) To analyze the metaphorization of everyday life in different poems; 3) To approach irony as an aesthetic component that establishes critical discourse; 4) To assess the construction of the feminine enunciative ethos in the analyzed poems. The dissertation is based on a diverse theoretical framework, combining classical and contemporary authors from different areas of knowledge. The investigations rely on the following theoretical contributions: Memory and places of memory: Collective memory (1990), by Maurice Halbwachs; Entre memória e história: a problemática dos lugares (1993), by Pierre Nora; Espaços da Recordação (2011), by Aleida Assmann; and Memória e identidade social (1992), by Michael Pollak; Metaphor: Classical approach to metaphor and Metáforas da vida cotidiana (2002), by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson; Irony: Teoria e política da ironia (2000), by Linda Hutcheon; and Ethos enunciativo: Em busca do sentido: estudos discursivos (2012), by José Luiz Fiorin; and Problemas de Linguística Geral II (2006), by Émile Benveniste. The complete theoretical framework of the research is developed in the chapters, based on the articulation between primary readings (works by Astrid Cabral) and theoretical readings (works by the authors mentioned). Each chapter has its own theoretical scope, aimed at analyzing the specific aspects of Astrid Cabral's lyrical workshop in question. The interaction between the theoretical references allows for an in-depth and multifaceted analysis of Astrid Cabral's work, revealing the complex network of relationships that make up her poetics.
