Mapeamento de Áreas Prioritárias para Recuperação Ambiental nas Áreas de Preservação Permanentes (APPs) da Bacia Hidrográfica do São Raimundo, Manaus/AM

Abstract

This study aimed to map environmental fragility and identify priority areas for recovery in the Permanent Preservation Areas of the São Raimundo Watershed, fully located within the urban fabric of Manaus, Brazil, which is marked by strong anthropic pressure, irregular occupations, and ecosystem service degradation. To support spatialized diagnostics and environmental recovery policies, integrated geotechnologies were applied, including Geographic Information Systems, remote sensing, and multicriteria analysis. Seven environmental factors were considered: land use and land cover, slope, soil erodibility. rainfall erosivity, flood susceptibility, vegetation vigor, and estimated soil loss. These factors were reclassified according to Ross’s environmental fragility scale, normalized and weighted using the Analytic Hierarchy Process, resulting in the Priority Areas for Recovery Index. The thematic maps produced showed that the highest priority areas are concentrated in urban sections with high population density, intense soil sealing, and vegetation suppression, especially along the Mindu stream and its tributaries. The results demonstrate that the integration of geoprocessing and multicriteria analysis is effective in diagnosing emergent fragility in Amazonian urban environments and guiding ecological restoration strategies, contributing to territorial management and strengthening sustainable urban planning in Manaus.
