Abstract

This academic memorial presents the professional trajectory of Prof. Dr. Emílio Carlos Sponchiado Júnior at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), in pursuit of promotion to the rank of Full Professor in the Higher Education Teaching Career. Organized with an analytical, reflective, and descriptive approach, the document highlights the main activities developed in the areas of teaching, research, outreach, academic management, and scientific production over more than 16 years of service at UFAM. In teaching, the author emphasizes his contributions to the Dentistry program, including coordination of theoretical and clinical courses and the implementation of innovative pedagogical strategies such as podcasts and academic leagues. In research, he coordinated 19 projects in the last decade, focusing on randomized clinical trials, systematic reviews, and innovation in Endodontics, resulting in the publication of 65 scientific articles. In outreach, he led socially and professionally impactful projects, such as specialized clinical care and free training programs for dentists in the state of Amazonas. In academic management, he coordinated both the undergraduate Dentistry course and the Graduate Program in Dentistry (PPGO/UFAM), contributing to the increase in the program's CAPES rating and the creation of its doctoral degree. The memorial also presents future perspectives, reflections on the role of the university in the Amazon region, and acknowledges the contributions of colleagues, students, and staff. The trajectory described expresses the author's ethical and academic commitment to public higher education, scientific advancement, and the training of qualified professionals in Northern Brazil.
