Resumo
The doctoral thesis presented here aims to understand how the organization and operationalization of educational policies for indigenous students in urban schools in the State Education Network of Roraima are being implemented. In this sense, the research analyzed the implementation of these policies, as well as their effectiveness in ensuring the effectiveness of an intercultural education that respects and values the identities and rights of indigenous peoples. Thus, it used a qualitative approach, in a study that involved bibliographic review, document analysis and semi-structured interviews. The semi-structured interviews were conducted with representatives of the sectors of SEED (State Secretariat of Education and Sports), namely: Department of Basic Education (DEB), Department of Indigenous School Education, State Center for Training of Education Professionals of Roraima (CEFORR), Division of Curriculum Strengthening (DIFIC), Division of Special Projects (DPE). The results achieved were divided into two categories: Public Policies and Indigenous Education and Curriculum and BNCC. The analyses indicated that, even with legislative advances, indigenous participation in the formulation of public policies involving indigenous peoples is still limited. Furthermore, linguistic difficulties, lack of curricular adaptation and prejudice are obstacles to overcoming these problems. In view of the above, it was understood that Indigenous Education needs to be more inclusive and representative, emphasizing the importance of intercultural teaching, valuing indigenous cultures and encouraging differentiated education. Thus, this study enabled discussions about Indigenous Education in the urban context and points out some ways to strengthen public educational policies aimed at this population, encouraging greater respect in cultural diversity.
