Um estudo antropológico sobre as relações entre espécies a partir do tucumã (Astrocaryum aculeatum)

Resumo

This dissertation analyzes the relationships between farmers, plants, and ways of life in Sítio Belém, in Rio Preto da Eva (AM), based on the management of tucumã (Astrocaryum aculeatum). I accom panied practices of harvesting, processing, seedling production, and commercialization through participant observation, field notes, interviews, and photographic records. The results show how tucumã is embedded in the daily life of the farming family, articulating food, complementary income, and connections with markets and agroecological networks. Its circulation moves across different scales, from the swidden field to street markets in Manaus, reflecting decisions that balance market demands, management strategies, and family values. In Sítio Belém, cultivating tucumã goes beyond commercial logic, involving relations of care, reciprocity, and attention to the temporalities of plants. The research highlights tucumã as a companion species that sustains bonds and agroecological practices in the Amazon.
