A interface entre desastres e questão ambiental: um olhar para as perspectivas teóricas sobre desastres na produção de conhecimento da área de Serviço Social no Brasil

Abstract

This dissertation aims to identify and study the production of knowledge about disasters in the area of Social Work, specifically from studies produced in master’s and doctoral courses of the Brazilian post-graduation. Therefore, the research has as object of study the state of the art of scientific knowledge produced on disasters in theses and dissertations of 38 Stricto Sensu postgraduate programs of area 32 (Social Work) of Capes, with a time cut of two decades (2002 to 2023). Given the above, this dissertation was guided by the following general objective: To analyze the production of knowledge about disasters in the area of Social Work in Brazil to promote subsidies for training and professional work of the social worker in the field of disaster management. For this purpose, efforts were made to respond to the following specific objectives: Characterize the thematic approaches on disasters in the theses and dissertations of the Brazilian post-graduation stricto sensu of the area of Social Work; Discuss the theoretical perspectives that underlie the conception of disasters in this production of knowledge; Identify the main contributions of this production of knowledge from Social Work to the deepening of the discussion on disasters and their management. Furthermore, the research was of the theoretical type developed as a systematic review of the content of theses and dissertations in the area of Social Work, from bibliographical and documentary surveys and with quantitative and qualitative analyses. In short, the analysis of theses and dissertations of the post-graduation stricto sensu indicated the Social Work as an area of knowledge in consolidation phase in the Brazilian debate on the subject, but that has made singular and significant contributions in the critical field for the study of disasters as complex processes involving multiple dimensions and elements in their composition and management.
