Educação como ferramenta na aplicação de boas práticas em comunidades produtoras de castanha-do-Brasil no Município de Amaturá- Amazonas.

Abstract

Education is a tool that promotes significant changes in different historical and cultural contexts. Among these is the promotion of improvements in access to information and income generation. Brazil nuts, a product of the Amazon bioeconomy, for example, require the adoption of preventive actions for sanitary quality. The aim of this research was to analyze the relevance of educational level in relation to the ability to adopt good management practices for Brazil nuts, with consequences for improving food quality and increasing the economic value of the product. The scope of this research focused on extractivist communities in the municipality of Amaturá-AM, by means of: 1) A qualitative approach, using the deductive method as a reference, bibliographical research was carried out on education in these communities and the adoption of good Brazil nut practices, with the aim of identifying whether the education offered is relevant to the way of life in these communities 2) By obtaining socio-demographic data, we observed an average age of approximately 50 years, and that these people have lived in the area for an average of 44 years. Families were found to have an average of 5 members, of whom an average of 3 work directly in Brazil nut extraction. 3) It was found that there is a relationship between having undergone BPM training and implementation, although it was not possible to prove the association of this data with schooling. The study has therefore provided important information on the BPM of Brazil nuts and it is important to consider the education and courses offered to collectors in order to motivate them to continue in this role with the aim of obtaining a better quality product.
