Descrição das alterações do assoalho pélvico de mulheres ribeirinhas: estudo observacional na ilha de João Pilatos - Ananindeua - Pará - Brasil

Resumo

Introduction: Pelvic floor dysfunctions directly impact women's quality of life and are often associated with factors such as high parity, aging, and unfavorable socioeconomic conditions. In riverside communities, cultural peculiarities and limited access to health services aggravate these risks. However, there is a scarcity of studies addressing the pelvic health of these populations. Objective: To describe pelvic floor alterations and the clinical profile of riverside women from João Pilatos Island, Ananindeua (PA), identifying factors associated with pelvic dysfunctions and possible impacts on quality of life. Methods: Cross-sectional, observational, analytical study conducted with 58 riverside women over 18 years of age. Data collection was performed using validated questionnaires: International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire – Short Form (ICIQ-SF), Wexner, and Female Sexual Functioning Index (FSFI). The data were statistically analyzed using logistic and original logistic regression models, considering statistical significance for p<0.05. Results: The mean age of the participants was 38 years, with a predominance of secondary education (49.15%). Urinary incontinence was observed in 36.2% of the participants, with a predominance of the stress type (35.59%). Fecal incontinence had a prevalence of 5.98%. Regarding sexual function, 32.20% of the women reported sexual desire, and 54.23% classified the intensity as moderate. Factors such as menopause, menopause and number of births were associated with pelvic floor dysfunctions without statistical significance. Conclusion: The study revealed a high prevalence of pelvic floor dysfunctions among riverside women, highlighting the need for specific health promotion and education strategies aimed at this population. Expanding access to specialized services and educational actions are essential to improve the quality of life of these women. Future research should explore sociocultural factors and expand the sample to strengthen the findings and support effective public policies. In this professional Master's work, health technologies were produced in the form of educational booklets distributed to riverside women on João Pilatos Island, thus concretizing the translation of knowledge into public health, which also included discussion groups and a podcast made available on an online platform.
