Resumo
This research aims to recognize the trajectories of female workers in the port area of central Manaus, Amazonas. Their trajectories, told in interviews, were the basis for reflections about the social relations built by them at their families, workspaces, and around the strategies that allowed their survival and search for citizen participation in the urban environment.
Regarding these women`s work conditions, the interviewees brought up issues related to gender oppression, which permeate the forms of learning and the behavior established in their families and work relationships in the port, building reflections and actions that sometimes tend to be different by setting limits or breaking up with the perspectives taught and desired. At other times, they reflect about the impact on the social relations in their trajectories, about social rights, about work opportunities, and various other situations that they live on a day-to-day basis.
Throughout this research, other sources like newspapers and legislations were analyzed, revealing the guidelines for some urban projects that promoted exclusion processes of workers at the expanded port area, as well as the deepening of the precarious labor relations that gained special strength on the neoliberal period started in the 1990s in Brazil, particularly in the political-administrative organization models.
