Impacto da imigração colombiana e peruana na atenção primária à saúde de Tabatinga: um estudo qualitativo

Abstract

Objective: To analyze, from the perspective of primary healthcare professionals, the health situation in Tabatinga and the repercussions of the border migration process of people from Colombia and Peru. Method: This is a qualitative case study, conducted exclusively with healthcare professionals working in basic health units in the municipality. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews and on-site observation of service operations, enabling the identification of changes in institutional routines. Thematic content analysis was used to interpret participants' perceptions, experiences, and challenges. Results: The arrival of immigrants intensifies pressure on the healthcare system, leading to greater demand for consultations and care, often prioritizing cases involving immigrants, thereby reducing the availability of services for residents. This overload is reflected in limitations in infrastructure, supplies, and staffing, as well as in the organization of the care flow, impacting the quality of care. Conclusion: There is a need for management strategies and public policies that expand primary care capacity, ensuring adequate and equitable care for both immigrants and residents. The study reinforces the importance of planning health services in border territories and intersectoral actions aimed at equity in access.
