Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is characterized by constant hyperglycemia. Health education activities are a key part of caring for people with DM. In this context, nurses have the skills to promote health and well-being through nursing consultations (NC). Among the tools available to facilitate this process, educational technology (ET) stands out, which can take various forms, such as brochures, booklets, guides, manuals, applications, among others. Objective: To produce a prototype guide for nursing consultations for people with diabetes mellitus (DM) undergoing outpatient follow-up. Methodology: Methodology: This is a methodological, descriptive study with a qualitative and participatory approach, aimed at producing a technological product. The study followed the following steps: 1. Integrative literature review (ILR); 2. Verification of the attention and care needs of people with DM and approach with professionals; 3. Construction of the Guide. Results: In the review stage, 18 studies were included that addressed the clinical evaluation of patients with DM, health education, and encouragement for self-care. In the second stage, 10 patients undergoing outpatient follow-up were interviewed, as well as professionals (nurses, doctors, and nutritionists) with experience in caring for people with DM. Participants recognized the importance of nursing consultations, and professionals highlighted the need for motivational strategies. In the final stage, a prototype of the Guide was developed, entitled “Nursing Consultation: Prototype Guide for Outpatient Care for People with Diabetes Mellitus.” The guide is divided into five chapters, containing guidelines for the development of the Nursing Process (NP) in the context of DM (medical history, physical examination, clinical examination of the feet), the main diagnoses, results, and nursing interventions for patients with DM, as well as tips and strategies to help patients and their families maintain good self-care practices. Final considerations: The nursing guide is a didactic and functional tool, and its use contributes to the qualification of the nursing work process and the improvement of health outcomes. Thus, the guide consolidates itself as an educational technology that values the role of nurses in promoting self-care and building a more decisive and patient-centered clinical practice.
