Redes e circuito espacial do pescado na cidade de Tefé-AM: atores, embarcações e percursos

Resumo

In the state of Amazonas, fishing plays an important socioeconomic role in employing labor, generating income, and providing food for society. In the Middle Solimões River region, the city of Tefé is considered the main point of sale for fish, with most of the production coming from extractive fishing, characterized by a great diversity of species. Given the socioeconomic relevance of this activity, we sought to understand the geographic networks with the unloading and sale of fish at the Antônio Castro Barroso Fish Depot. Thus, the research started from a fixed location, considering it as central to this analysis, which is the Antônio Castro Barroso Fish Market, which operates as a wholesale and retail market. To carry out the research, a historical survey was carried out on fishing in the Amazon, the economic, social, territorial and political transformations that have occurred over the years, highlighting how this activity has a given spatial organization and how it contributes to the permanence of peasants in the countryside. A bibliographic survey of authors and works of geographical science was carried out that address the concept of peasant and geographical network, highlighting the flows and fixed elements contained in the network and their specific functions in the process. In addition, the concept of spatial production circuit is highlighted with the aim of understanding the commercialization circuit of fisheries shipped in Tefé and the articulations in the different stages of production and their socio-spatial implications. These concepts and conceptual pairs allowed us to highlight the complexity of the spatial organization of fish production. The interviews were conducted with the actors involved, such as the agents involved in the production, distribution and marketing of fish.
