Resumo
In the context of global climate change, combined with challenges such as food scarcity, water supply constraints, and increasing droughts, the bioeconomy has emerged as a promising alternative for the transition toward a green economy. Within the Brazilian Amazon, this economic sector has significant potential due to the region's rich biodiversity and the resulting opportunities to develop higher value-added products. In addition to the favorable natural environment in the state of Amazonas, a federative unit whose economy is primarily supported by the Manaus Free Trade Zone (MFTZ), the bioeconomy finds a conducive environment, considering the need to investigate new economic activities that may contribute to the state’s economic diversification. Assuming innovation and entrepreneurship as potential drivers of bioeconomy development in the region, this study seeks to answer the following research question: what is the level of systemic maturity of the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in the bioeconomy sector of the state of Amazonas, and which factors foster or constrain its development? Accordingly, this research aims to analyze the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem of the bioeconomy sector in the state of Amazonas by mapping its actors according to the Quintuple Helix model and assessing its level of systemic maturity through the adaptation of the diagnostic model initially developed by Cukier, Kon, and Krueger (2015) and updated by Bueno and Floriani (2025). To achieve this objective, the study adopts an applied research approach with a mixed-methods design, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. Additionally, data were collected through bibliographic and documentary research. Through the diagnostic model developed in this dissertation, the results indicate an intermediate level of maturity of the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in the bioeconomy sector of Amazonas, characterized by the presence of a robust innovative and entrepreneurial base. However, the implementation of mechanisms capable of converting this structure into market-oriented outcomes is necessary, particularly through increased private investment, as well as the strengthening of ecosystem governance. In addition to recommending strategic actions to improve the analyzed context, this research contributes by proposing a diagnostic tool for assessing the maturity of innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems focused on the bioeconomy sector.
