Situated within the Psychological Processes and Health research line, this dissertation deepens the understanding of mental-health conditions and experiences of moral and/or sexual harassment at UFAM. It orchestrates three complementary methodological axes: (I) an online mixed-methods survey answered by 829 participants—the largest sample ever reported in Brazilian university harassment studies; (II) ninety-four semi-structured interviews analysed with Descending Hierarchical Classification in Iramuteq, which unveiled power dynamics, silencing, and resistance; and (III) a research-documentary that resulted in a collective short film, highlighting the potential of audiovisual language as a social technology for both denunciation and care. Quantitative findings indicate that 33 % of respondents witnessed harassment and that one in every three faculty members reports a formal diagnosis of a mental disorder, while the SRQ-20 scale revealed critical levels of psychological distress among postgraduate students and technical-administrative staff. Qualitatively, the data expose feelings of impunity; heightened vulnerability among women, Black persons, and LGBTQIA+ members; and an urgent demand for secure reporting channels and continuous training of the academic community. Aligned with the adviser’s macro-project on psychosocial risk, work, and subjectivity, the study delivers strategic contributions: (1) an unprecedented, adaptable instrument for tracking harassment across faculty, staff, and students; (2) empirical inputs for the draft Harassment-Prevention Policy and the Mental-Health Policy at UFAM, consistent with Decree 12 122/2024 and the “Lilac Guide” of the CGU; (3) a capacity-building roadmap for managers and supervisors that emphasizes prevention, reception, and accountability; (4) psychosocial-screening protocols grounded in the SRQ-20 and organizational-climate indicators; and (5) audiovisual materials for discussion circles, workshops, and campaigns, thereby strengthening the university’s extension mission. For professional practice in Psychology and related fields, the dissertation offers intervention guidelines that range from designing reception workflows in institutional ombudsperson offices to creating listening and mentoring spaces, and includes recommendations for the epidemiological surveillance of harassment as an occupational risk. Instrument validation and the mixed synthesis of data inspire future longitudinal investigations, intersectional analyses, and the inclusion of outsourced workers—an acknowledged gap in the present study. Within the Amazonian context, the enquiry underscores additional challenges stemming from geographic isolation, riverside and Indigenous diversity, and local socioeconomic vulnerabilities, advocating culturally sensitive, place-based policies. By engaging with Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and 5 (Gender Equality), the dissertation positions itself as a robust contribution to academical and social communities and to CAPES, demonstrating full adherence to the research line, strong alignment with the supervising macro-project, and direct applicability to professional practices aimed at transforming reality at UFAM while inspiring action across other institutions in the Amazon and the wider country.
